GRADUATION INFORMATION

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Pleasant Grove Unified School District requires that ALL seniors complete 220 credits, course work and graduation requirements. 
  • Seniors must enroll and pass, with a grade of “D” or better, an academic math course (10 credits of math) during their senior year and must earn 25 credits in their second term.
  • Seniors may not have any more than one home suspension offense during the second term.
  • Seniors may not be suspended for ANY REASON AFTER May 1st , 2019. If suspended for any reason they cannot “walk” at graduation.

 

STUDENT FINES OR FEES

Students with any outstanding fines or fees (i.e., athletic uniforms, library books/textbooks, etc.) will not be allowed to participate in the graduation rehearsal on Friday, May 24th , 2019, which is MANDATORY for participation in the graduation ceremony at Golden One Center  on Wednesday May 29th .  In addition, diplomas will be held for students with outstanding fines or fees until they are paid or cleared. 

An inclusive list of all fines/fees owed will be posted in the windows of the Attendance Office, the Library, and the Controller’s Office May 22nd , 2019.  An updated list will be posted on May 23rd, 2019Library/textbook fines must be paid in the Pleasant Grove High School Library by cash, cashier’s check or money order.  All other fines/fees must be paid to the School Site Controller, Michelle Grundman, by cash, cashier’s check or money order.  No personal checks or credit cards will be accepted. 

 

Seniors must clear all fines/fees in order to participate in any senior events!

 

GRADUATION REHEARSAL-MANDATORY!

Mandatory Rehearsals:                   
Friday May 24th , 2019

8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

  • DO NOT BE LATE as rehearsal will begin promptly at the time stated above.Those graduates that are not seated at the beginning of rehearsal may not participate in the graduation ceremony.
  • Attendance at graduation rehearsal is MANDATORY in order to participate in the graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 at Golden 1 Center at 7:00 p.m.

 

Students are expected to behave appropriately and cooperatively during the rehearsal.  Students who are asked to leave the rehearsal will NOT participate in the graduation ceremony.  Seniors are to abide by the school dress code for rehearsal.  They should NOT bring anything valuable to the rehearsal as they will not be allowed to carry anything with them as they practice.

Graduation @ Golden 1 Center:  PARKING IS ON YOUR OWN!!!!

Seniors should report to the Media entrance at G1. by 5:45p.m.  Parents dropping off students should drop their students off at the corner of 7th and K St. then park their cars.  Parents and guests will be able to enter G1 at the Grand Entrance on David J. Stern Walk.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Handicapped parking is the same as any event at Golden 1 Center.   (Sacpark.org) is a great site to help you reserve parking.

 

CAPS AND GOWNS MUST BE WORN FOR THE GRADUATION CEREMONY WITH APPROPRIATE “Semi-formal” ATTIRE UNDERNEATH.

Dress code for Graduation: Graduation is a formal ceremony and as a result the following dress code is expected:

Men:           Dress shirt, dress shoes, long slacks (tie is recommended)

Women:      Dress or dress slacks and blouse, dress shoes

Formal Ceremony means that gowns are to be unadorned with the exception of the following:

Seniors will NOT be allowed to:

  • Carry anything (no flowers, presents, purses, etc.).CELL PHONES ARE OK!!!!!
  • Adorn or decorate the cap (mortarboard) in any way.

  • Guests bringing any items not allowed in G1. will be directed to return items to their vehicles.

TICKETS

Students will be given their six (6) free tickets at the end of graduation rehearsal on May 28th.  Additional tickets may be purchased for $10 each CASH ONLY and are available for sale on school days after May 1st at the site controller’s window.  Absolutely no refunds will be given on purchased tickets.

  • Do not lose your tickets.Replacement tickets are not available.Tickets will not be available at Golden 1.

AUDIENCE EXPECTATIONS

Everyone entering Golden 1 must have a ticket, including young children 2 years of age and older.  Seating will be selected by first come, first serve arrangements.  Under these circumstances, no member of the audience may “save” seats for late arrivals.  Inform all ticket holders that the ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. 

 

AUDIENCE CONDUCT

To allow for greatest courtesy to all guests:

  • Audience members must remain seated throughout the ceremony except when instructed to stand as part of the ceremony.The contract agreement the school was asked to sign forbids standing in the aisles during the event.
  • Photography: Flash photography is not allowed in Golden 1.As a matter of safety and respect to our guests, please do not leave your seat to take pictures of the graduates.

 

HONOR SHOWN TO ALL GRADUATES:

In respect to all graduates, audience members are requested to hold all applause until all graduates have been presented.  At the end of the commencement ceremony, the audience will be asked to remain in their seats until the entire honored graduates exit the arena.  Students and parents may choose locations outside for picture-taking sessions with family and friends.

 

CLASS OF 2019 STUDENT CONDUCT

Seniors are expected to:

  • Be quiet and respectful during the graduation ceremony presentations and performances.
  • Keep their caps on at all times during the graduation ceremony.Walk straight across the stage without making hand gestures or inappropriate body movements, bending, and/or making noises, showing respect to all present.
  • Follow the formal graduation dress code and student conduct expectations.
  • Follow all school policies, procedures, and adhere to the expectations or the senior will be removed for the remainder of the ceremony.

 

Inappropriate display of behavior will result in removing the graduate from the ceremony and withholding the student’s diploma after the ceremony.

    (Each graduating senior will receive 6 free tickets on

        Tuesday, May 28th at graduation rehearsal.)

 

  • Tickets are non refundable.
  • No limit on the number of tickets you can purchase.
  • No reserved seating at Golden 1 Center.
  • Parking is ON YOUR OWN.(sacpark.org)
  • Children under 2 years are free.
  • No Balloons or Flowers Allowed.
  • EVERYONE will be required to go through the metal detector.
  • Doors open @ 6:00 pm.
  • Students arrive at 5:45 pm.

 

Tickets will be sold until 12:00 pm on

Wednesday, May 29th .

 

NO tickets will be sold at the
